This button can do a variety of things. As Link and Zora Link, you can roll. While L-Targeting explained below , you can use a jump attack, side step, or back flip. You can also read signs and engraved text, talk to people, save the game at owl statues, and select an answer to a question. As Deku Link, this is your main and only attack button.
As Goron Link, you can curl into a ball in which you can roll in different directions using the circle pad. The B button is mainly used for attacks. As Deku Link, you can use the B button to create a bubble projectile that uses up magic.
As Link, if you hold down b after your first slash, you can do a spin attack. As Zora Link, you can press R explained below and press B to make a barrier around yourself that damages foes. If you press B and hold it down, you can use your fins as a boomerangs to attack others. L: L-Targeting. This allows you to lock on to foes, signs, or important things thanks to Tatl. This is a very good combat tool and it is the only way to perform a jump attack as Link.
It can also lock onto people or signs that are hard to reach so you can interact with them using A. R: Shield. Shielding is an important part of Zelda; it blocks attacks from enemies. All four transformations have a shield. Zora Link can use a barrier by pressing B at the same time as pressing R. Zora Link can also swim faster in the water by pressing R, but it depletes your magic really fast.
Some items work differently than others. The First Three Days [Small Spoilers] The first three days are probably the most linear part of the game; everything is spoon fed to you. Some of the controls I said above are mentioned, but they don't go into detail.
So, what happens is that a twisted Skull Kid runs off with your ocarina and steals your trusty stead, Epona who you will receive later in the game. He then turns you into a Deku Scrub "forever". In return, you have to give him Majora's Mask. And that's basically your quest: get the ocarina, get Majora's Mask. The catch? You have three days until the Happy Mask Salesman leaves Termina, and you will later find out that you have three days until the moon crashes.
Then you will be sent to Clock Town, a seemingly peaceful town. Tips I can give you: After you become "friends" with the Bombers, they will play hide and seek and you have to find them. Go to the mayor's office to get a little more story on what's going on Mr. Guru-guru, the one who gives you the Bremen Mask, only appears at night in the Laundry Pool When you go through the sewer, you can hop along the water with Deku Link 5 times When looking through the telescope, look on top of Clock Tower.
This will trigger a cutscene and an important item. Once you reach rupees, you will get the adult wallet, where you can carry rupees.
But wait! As you know, the song of time is [Y][L][R]. Now play that backwards; so [R][L][Y]. This slows down time significantly so you have much more time to do things such as complete temples. This is the Song of Double Time. This allows you to warp to any time in the future. This is not helpful in the beginning of the game, but it is very useful to trigger time-based events. Also, I cannot stress this enough.
Do NOT worry about the time limit.
Do what you have to do, play the Inverted Song of Time if you need it. These are the four location of the temples, chronologically. You want to go to the Swamp, which is all the way in the South.
Song of Soaring [Spoilers] One of the most useful songs in the game. You can use it to warp to any Owl Statues that you activated in your journey. You can use it anytime as well, so it is extremely useful. One more thing: I highly recommend that you get all the masks 23 so you can use the Fierce Deity Mask in the end and beat the final boss much easier.
He will then turn into a mask. Zora Mask: Help Mikau, a dying Zora in the water, to get to shore. He will say his last words and transform into a mask.
PLay the Song of Healing, and you will receive his mask. You will see an unhappy man. He will give you the Keaton Mask. Mask of Scents: After rescuing the Princess and the Monkey, go out and head to the right where you can race the Deku Butler.
When you do so, you will be rewarded with this mask. Then, as Goron Link, go to the top and roll into one of the lights, and it should contain a Rock Sirloin. Come back at 2am and fend off the aliens around the barn. Upon beating them, you will receive the mask.
Next to Dampe's House, there is a giant skeleton. Play the Sonata of Awakening to awaken Captain Keeta.
Shoot him with an arrow to stop him in his tracks and chase after him to battle with him. Once he is defeated, run up the trail and speak with him. He will then grant you the contents of the chest behind him. After he disappears, jump to the other side using the Bunny Hood, the Zora Mask, or get as close as you can and Hookshot to the chest. Open it for your prize, the Captain's Hat.
Go on the spotlight, and stand on the appropriate parts of the stage. The Troupe Leader will give you his mask out of sadness All Night Mask: After defeating Sakon and helping the bomb lady, go to the curiosity shop, and you can download the Mask for Rupees. Play the Song of Storms to cause the river to fill up.
